We’re a Gold Star Library!

download-1We are pleased to announce that in mid-2018, the Carnegie Free Library of Beaver Falls was awarded Gold Star status by PA Forward, the Pennsylvania Library Association’s 21st century literacy initiative.

What is PA Forward? PA Forward is a campaign created by the Pennsylvania Library Association to help Pennsylvanians improve essential literacy skills.  Through the emphasis of five areas of literacy – basic, information, civic and social, health, financial – CFLBF is empowering those in our community with the skills and knowledge they need to be productive and successful citizens! Our work with PA Forward aligns well with our library’s own vision of inspiring and empowering lifelong learning and the exchange of knowledge in our community.

What is a Gold Star Library? The Star rating system began in January 2017 as a way to recognize the work libraries across the state are doing to advance all types of literacy. Libraries participating in the Star system document their efforts to foster and enhance literacy and, through a series of benchmark achievements, eventually reach Gold Star status. Being named a Gold Star library is a big achievement for CFLBF, and we offer special thanks to librarian Kari Reda for her hard work in helping the library achieve this milestone!
